The tale of the Whitesoap T-shirts.

Every major project I’ve developed at one point had a “t-shirt venture” of some sort, and Whitesoap was no exception. However, Whitesoap was a short-lived project and even though I promised t-shirts to the staff and others, it never happened. I *had* the shirts… but…

They were all mis-prints.

For some reason, we just couldn’t silkscreen the design properly. Edges would bleed, or there would be gaps in the print …. In the end, I scrapped the idea and accepted an additional batch of Mobile17 shirts, instead, to give to friends and family.

But, I still had the shirts. I left them in a bag for a long time … then stumbled on them today while cleaning my closet. I figured it was good clothing that people could really use, so I gave them to goodwill. Goodbye shirts!

smash.me launched, my new homepage! (more juicy information “about” smash.)

UPDATE: smash.me has been merged into benguild.com… ;)

This is a new site I’ve started to complement my blog here at Smash’s World… which of course will remain here until the END OF TIME.

‘Smash.Me’ (available at http://smash.me), is a syndicated “sandbox” of my online-activity that may or may not be interesting to viewers. The site also allows me to post new “tabs” for unique purposes (like cars, projects, etc.) and more static (non-changing) content/information that wouldn’t normally fit here into a blog-entry. This also helps keep the clutter down for projects that should always be featured, rather than just mentioned in a single post.

I made the site over the past few-weeks in some spare time and feel pretty good about it. Check it out, and sign the guestbook!

A note about ‘Whitesoap’ and ‘73git’: … at this point I’ve closed these two projects down. The news-feeds backing both systems have been recycled into my Google Reader, and I am using this to provide interesting news on the main page of ‘smash.me’. I felt this was the best decision possible as I want to focus further on online-tools and development… rather than aggregating online-information. (except if it’s about me… hehe.) ^_^

Some updates to Whitesoap!

Playing around with a new beta of the homepage, which provides a lot more useful information from the system. We’ll see how it goes — there’s plenty more to come. It’s a fun project and is nowhere near the end of its road. ;)

New Whitesoap layout, Mobile17 hits 5 million

I wish I had more to post but I’ve been super-super busy! Mobile17 hit the 5-million mark like a week or two ago, which is a fantastic feat. Then, I busted my ass redesigning Whitesoap to bring it out of the alpha period into a beta one; I hope that myself and the other moderators can really make something amazing happen there!

Back to work for me.

A new project, “Whitesoap”

Paul just wrote an article on this new site I put together called Whitesoap. Special thanks to Larry for providing the domain name. :)

I worked on this for a few months in my spare time, just putting together some ideas I had from several online projects I’d worked on in the past. We syndicate feeds that we like for the pages, and from there its up to both the readers and the editors to choose what makes the pages!

It’s like a combo between Slashdot, Digg, Netscape News, and Newsvine… we get all of our news from feeds we like, then our moderators (me, Paul, Dan, Derek, and Nate) choose stories from the pool or stories suggested by visitors. It’s pretty simple, and I think it’s a cool project.

Check it out, and Digg this!
