A few years ago, GM introduced the EV1 electric car and the Chevy S-10 electric truck to comply with California's energy laws, which required a portion of sold vehicles to be “zero-emissions” by 1998.
However, GM found a workaround for this law, and crushed all of them when their leases were up. — Although some owners offered thousands of dollars to buy their EV1 vehicles off-lease, they were refused the ability to do so. 😢


Apparently, the alternative that the car companies found was to donate electric golf-carts to local neighborhoods.
